Trainee Trader aims to provide basic trading information for all. This site will mainly focus on Forex or foreign currency trading. It is my goal to provide this information in an easy to understand yet informative manner.
My goal for creating this site is two fold. The first is to provide information for new Forex traders and secondly to reinforce my knowledge.
About Me
I am a 25 year old currently living in Australia. I have been learning and studying as much as I can about the Forex market since early 2005. My interest in Financial markets and business however were sparked at a much earlier age. I remember my mum telling me a story about when I was three years old. I had grown out of a pair of socks and my mum asked, “Shall we give these to your sister to wear?” I replied “NO” my mother then asked why shouldn’t we let your sister get some wear out of them? I quickly replied “Sell them to her”. Even at such a young age I had trading on my mind.
My first experience with understanding the inner workings of business occurred during my high school years. This involved a simulated business game. The main premise from this was to form a company, develop a product, sell the product, produce a written and oral report and have a stall at a trade show. Our team was awarded Grand Champion winning team, best oral report, best-written report and I was voted most outstanding team member.
After school I studied Economics/Finance and Computer Science at University. This has given me an excellent theoretical understanding of business and finance. Below is a basic summary of the skills I have obtained:
Statistics
- Experience in analysis of business data.
- Ordinary Least Square, binomial and multivariate models
- Exceptional familiarity with basic statistical concepts.
- Knowledge of application of Econometric techniques.
Economics
- Advanced knowledge of Microeconomic and Macroeconomic models and principles.
- Knowledge of Australian economic institutions and policy.
- Knowledge of the political and regulatory framework.
Finance
- Experience in portfolio analysis and valuation.
- Knowledge of dealing strategies and their application to hedging and risk management.
- Experience of the Black Scholes approach to pricing of standard options, stock indices, currencies, future markets and other derivatives.
Computing Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Particularly Excel for portfolio analysis.
- Java, C, C++ and assembly programming experience.
- System development and enterprise software development experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Networking and Distributed Systems.
- Skills in the application of Artificial Intelligence through Evolutionary programming.
- Understanding of UML and CASE based modeling.
Now
After completing my Bachelor of Economics and my Major in Computer Science I am in the process of developing automated trading systems with applied artificial intelligence.
